Delinquent Property Tax Programs Larry Roberts Fayette County Attorney

Delinquent Property Tax

One responsibility of Larry’s office is to collect delinquent property taxes.

When Sheriff Kathy Witt sends out the tax bills, it is time to pay up. We all grimace at that time of year. But many times, people are late filing on time. Some folks have small delays for understandable reasons and others are very late or just don’t pay. There are statutory penalties that can result, and Larry has the duty to represent the state in the collection process.

Larry has had the privilege of employing Dianne McKenna who has run this department for 28 years, including the 14 years Larry has held the office. She does a phenomenal service to this city helping the County Attorney’s office handling thousands of cases each year.

Since Larry has been in office, he has recovered over $60 Million in tax revenue.

The tens of thousands of collected delinquent taxes is vitally important to our school system because 65% goes to support that essential function of our city.
