1st Term

When I was sworn in as a Town Councilor in December 2024, I immediately realized what a privilege and responsibility is was going to be to represent the great residents of Middletown, Rhode Island. I felt blessed, a bit overwhelmed with emotions, but I knew I was up for the challenge.

It has not been easy, and it has been much more work than I realized, but I am a man of my word who knew I had to take this new position on with everything I have. I work for the residents of the Town, and no one else. I worry about our Town and the direction we have been going, like many of you.

I worked hard in my first term to make sure the Town Council was more transparent, sometimes upsetting my colleagues and staff. I ask questions, I dig in to topics, I try to give relief to our full time residents. That is what the voters of this Town expect of me, and I do not want to disappoint them.

My first term:

Voted against the Town Budget both years because I thought spending was too excessive and did not think residents and businesses could afford a +3% tax increase. We need to do better.
I supported the building of our new schools, which I think will be the center of our community for many years to come. It has already attracted private donors to allow us to start a welding program for students and adults. My job is not done, I need to make sure this project truly stays on budget, and we do not expand it any more.
I served as a Town Council liaison to the Middletown Prevention Coalition, the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee, the Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Open Space & Fields Committee, and the Comprehensive Plan Update Committee. I support the work of all those that serve on our boards and committees, that is where I started.
I supported increasing funding for Middletown Prevention Coalition, since 70% of all fire and police departments calls are “mental health related.” We secured a great funding grant, but there is more work to do. We need to do more for mental health for your youth and our adults.
I supported continued talks with Newport for school district regionalization, pushing for the rights of residents to make that decision and NOT elected officials. Adults usually ruin this conversation, but I fight to keep it going, even if the timing is not right.
I listened to residents on the Town Center project, and fought to make changes to the plan, and to save Pottsy’s Field. I backed those that came out in hundreds to voice their concerns. I never supported this project, nor with I in its current state. Why? The vast majority have spoken.
I voted for Town Council term limits, something I hope to make a reality during my second term. This will require a charter change, but we need to discuss this more and we will if I am elected.
I worked for the residents of this Town, they come first.
